  • Doorway of the Mosque of the Sultan Al Mu'ayyad, (built 1415-1422) next to the Bab Zuweyla, Cairo; doorkeeper, seated with his shoes off, hand to his face.  He may be hiding from the camera, or he may be just resting or napping.   Door is heavily ornamented with repousse Islamic patterns.  Sunlight floods into the doorway.
