  • Entrance to the temple precinct of Vishnu at Changu Narayan in the Kathmandu Valley.  A temple has been on the site since the 5th century.  Changu Narayan is one of the Monument Zones designated by UNESCO as a world heritage site.

  • Oman, entrance to the ruins at Ubar (also known as Shisr or Wubar).  Remains of stone built walls, with sinkhole below into which the ancient site fell. Though the Quran story describes a wealthy city which vanished, this site was most probably a walled caravanserai around a water hole.  About 30 campsites have been identified in the vicinity.  Site identified by Wilfred Thesiger and Nicholas Clapp in 1990, using satellite photographs.

Carved inscription in ancient South Arabian language, covered by a protective transparent plastic ( Lucite?)  shield.  Sumhuram, was an outpost of the pre-Islamic kingdom of Hadramawt on the southern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, now in the Dhofar region of Oman.  The language of the inscription is yet untranslated.
