  • Column capitals of the Temple of Athena at Assos, Turkey, lie scattered on the ground in 1968.The temple, is sited on a cliff that overlooked the ancient city (where Aristotle lived for a time) and now overlooks a tiny picturesque village port. It is the earliest archaic Doric temple in Turkey, dating about 530 BC.
