In the village of Brent Eleigh, the church of St. Mary's is a perfect example of the village church. The chancel window is Victorian Gothic, but the church interior has been revealed to have late 14th century wall paintings of St. John, the Virgin Mary, the Harrowing of Hell, and other subjects. For known history, see http://www.suffolkchurches.co.uk/brent.html. This photo was made on a cloudy grey winter day, but the grass is bright green against the warm yellowish and reddish colored stone from which the church was built..
