Sunlight pours through the dome of a ruined Greek Orthodox church in Ayvalik

Looking up toward the dome of a small Greek Orthodox church in Ayvalik, Turkey, abandoned after the Greek-Turkish population exchange in 1923. A priest from Lesbos comes over occasionally to offer a service here. Since the early Gothic period in France, the holy spirit has been envisioned as being carried on light. Here my deliberate manipulation of the high contrast of the image is means to illustrate this concept.
